The Lead Investor is the investor who typically anchors a financing round by setting or heavily influencing valuation and key terms, committing a significant portion of the round, and coordinating other investors. In practice, the Lead Investor often takes a board seat (or observer seat) and drives diligence and documentation, and the Lead Investor role can materially shape governance and signaling.
