Founder Misalignment

Founder Misalignment occurs when founders’ incentives, time horizons, or objectives diverge from those of investors, the board, or other key stakeholders (e.g., preference for lifestyle outcomes vs. hypergrowth). Founder Misalignment often becomes visible in debates over burn rate, fundraising timing, M&A offers, secondary sales, or willingness to change leadership.
