Marked to Market

Marked to Market (mark-to-market) refers to valuing an asset or liability based on its current fair market value rather than its historical cost, with gains and losses recognized as values change. In investing and finance, Marked to Market treatment affects reported performance and covenants, and in fund reporting it can drive NAV calculations and LP communications for positions whose values are updated periodically.
