Institutional Investor

An Institutional Investor is an organization that invests capital on behalf of others, such as a pension fund, endowment, insurance company, bank, asset manager, or sovereign wealth fund. In venture capital fundraising, an Institutional Investor often acts as an LP with formal diligence, allocation processes, and governance requirements, and the Institutional Investor’s mandates can affect fund terms and reporting.
